JEE Main Registration 2027 Documents & Photo Checklist

The National Testing Agency has not released the JEE Main 2027 information bulletin yet. Therefore, the requirements below follow the latest official JEE Main 2026 process. NTA may change the documents, formats or file-size limits for JEE Main 2027 registration. Candidates must verify every detail after the 2027 bulletin is published.

Note: The dates mentioned above are tentative and subject to change. The official JEE Main 2027 schedule will be updated after the NTA releases the Information Bulletin.

The expected JEE Main registration documents include a photograph, signature, Class 10 certificate and identity proof. Some candidates may also need a disability certificate.

Based on the latest rules, the expected JEE Main photo requirements are:
• Upload a colour passport-size photograph.
• Keep at least 80% of the face visible.
• Make sure both ears are visible.
• Use a white or light-coloured background.
• Do not wear a mask while taking the photograph.
• Save the scanned image in JPG or JPEG format.
• Keep the expected file size between 10 KB and 200 KB.
• Avoid filters, heavy editing and blurred images.
Candidates may also need to capture a live photograph while completing the JEE Main application form. The uploaded and live photographs should closely match the photograph on the identity document. An obvious mismatch may lead to additional verification.

The expected JEE Main signature requirements are:
• Sign clearly on plain white paper.
• Use blue or black ink.
• Scan or photograph only the signed area.
• Save the image in JPG or JPEG format.
• Keep the expected file size between 10 KB and 100 KB.
• Make sure the signature is not blurred, cropped or stretched.
• Use the same signature during later examination and admission stages.

Keep the following academic records nearby while completing the JEE Main application form:
• Class 10 certificate or marksheet
• Class 12 marksheet, if already passed
• Class 12 roll number, registration number or enrolment number
• Name and address of the qualifying school
• Board name and year of passing or appearing
• Details of subjects studied in Class 12
• State code of eligibility
Students appearing for Class 12 in 2027 may enter their available board roll number, registration number or enrolment number according to the instructions in the form.

Aadhaar is commonly used for identity verification, but candidates may receive other authentication options. The exact methods will appear on the JEE Main 2027 registration portal.
Before registration, check whether the Aadhaar card contains the correct:
• Candidate’s name
• Date of birth
• Gender
• Address
• Recent photograph

Candidates applying under the GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC or ST category should keep a valid certificate ready. OBC-NCL candidates should also confirm that their community appears in the Central List. A state-list certificate alone may not provide Central reservation benefits.
NTA may revise this process for 2027. Check whether the new form asks for the certificate itself, its number, issuing authority or date of issue.

Candidates should also keep the following details ready:
• Active personal mobile number
• Active personal email address
• Complete present and permanent addresses
• Emergency contact details
• Debit card, credit card, UPI or net-banking access

Create one clearly labelled folder for all JEE Main application form documents. Use simple file names such as:

Open every file after scanning it. Check whether the text, photograph, stamp and certificate number are readable. Confirm the file format and size before starting the application.

The expected registration process includes these steps:
• Visit the official JEE Main website.
• Complete new-candidate registration.
• Save the generated application number and password.
• Enter personal, academic and contact details.
• Choose the paper and preferred examination cities.
• Complete identity verification.
• Capture the live photograph, if required.
• Upload the prescribed documents.
• Review every entry carefully.
• Pay the application fee online.
• Download the confirmation page.
The registration is complete only when the payment succeeds and the confirmation page is generated. Save both digital and printed copies of the submitted form and payment receipt.

Avoid these frequent registration errors:
• Entering a name that does not match the Class 10 certificate
• Uploading an old or unclear photograph
• Using the wrong file format
• Uploading oversized or undersized files
• Submitting a parent’s signature
• Selecting an incorrect category
• Entering the wrong Class 12 passing year
• Using an inactive mobile number or email address
• Creating more than one application number
• Forgetting to download the confirmation page
